Blog 3 ' running late' finished

Me lying in a grassy expanse.

That's a wrap!

Our film 'Running Late' is done and I wanted to give a big thanks to the rest of my team. A common problem of group assignments is one or more people not pulling their weight, but I can confidently say all the team have pulled theirs. I can only think of two main difficulties that arose in the group.

The first is a bit general and very minor, that being the general level of communication between everyone in the group. Sometimes the idea for the film and our roles were a bit unclear or different in each person's mind, until the moment where it was need. Additionally, most of the messages to organise filming times were mine. But these are product of everyone in the team, including myself, balancing other commitments with this film, which is to be expected in a student project like this.

The other difficulty was a small mishap related to the footage on our group cloud drive, Ethan decided to delete some footage to organise the file which meant that some shots couldn't be recovered. But we quickly resolved this by just moving any less useful shots to a different folder. Overall this did mean that some of the alternate shots were missing during the final edit but this may have been fixed if I remembered to bring the camera's SD card during editing.

Speaking of editing, the bulk of shot selection and basic editing was done by Ethan but I took the role of sound, music and text by his request. Additionally I changed a bit the intro a bit to keep shot consistency as well as syncing the entire film to the music 'Skyhawk Beach' by Blue Wave Theory (I have mistakenly flipped the artist and song name in the credits). All of which I was doing with Cairo who was a great second opinion and idea bouncer for my editing choice. Who was just fun to hang out with while doing the editing, which is a benefit to doing a collaborative project like this.

My closing statements:

I've learnt that working in a team can make a project easier, larger and less of a burden individually but at a cost of the perfect creative idea in your own head. However, this exchange is more then worth it in my view, since the product of all the team's creativity if far more interesting then what I could of thought of by myself.

More practically, I've learnt to inform any future team members about cloud drive etiquette before starting a project.
