I've decided to remake the entire site, why?

Updated: Sep 26, 2024

The last time I posted here, it was the last blog necessary for the Creative Collaborations course I was doing.

Since then I've made a myriad of other films, aged a year, learnt more about personal branding, fallen in love and got really good at playing Foosball.

One or two of those events have led me to think having my own proper and useful website would be a good idea.

Obviously LinkedIn is the way to go to connect with future employers and literally any social media account would be easier to find me on. But I'm hoping this site can be a few things for me (and maybe for you the very welcome visitor here):

  1. Be somewhere nice I can post the projects I'm most proud of

  2. Have some blog posts that don't quite fit anywhere else

  3. Be a hub between all my other platforms and their respective personal brands

What kind of projects am I hosting here?

Well currently just some university film assignments, but I've got a very big creative appetite at the moment and a keenness to share my work with the world. So I figure this website can be the proverbial big plate to hold it all.

What could be on this site in the future?

Expect a lot more student film projects in the short term. But after that, I reckon there will be a flood of drawing/animation content, probably in the form of WIP stuff for other larger projects. Maybe even some music at some point.

But there's always a new thing that threatens to sweep my attention away so don't be surprised if I start uploading stuff to do with writing or prototyping games here.

Who are my blog posts aimed at?

Currently just nosy employers I'm aiming to impress but if I'm ever Internet famous! some stalkers. But in all seriousness these posts are aimed at anyone who wants to learn about me or what I'm doing while also being an entertaining read (hopefully).

What will the posts be about?

Expect to see sparse progress updates for random projects, advice on random topics I think I have enough knowledge on weigh in on and generally stuff about me.

Hopefully much like how I'm archiving my projects I'll archive a bit of my personality into these posts for anyone who wants to read them and learn more about me as a person.

A hub between what and what?

Currently what the future holds for me is (as for everyone) hard to tell, my current plan requires balancing a main job that likely involves editing and/or film-making with a exploration into content creation and growing an online audience.

With any luck the former will be my main stable job (and this page will be viewed by a lot more stalkers). But all of that requires different social media platforms all with different personal brands, some on places like LinkedIn to find myself that stable job while others on places like YouTube and Instagram to showcase whatever creative project I wasted that weekend doing.

How will this website help?

I've learnt from my university studies that having a website (or hub) that can link from and to my various social media platforms is generally a good idea, as it allows anyone to find all the things I am doing (and also possibly make some money if I ever ad or sell stuff on this site).

I've also learnt from my studies that each social media platform will require a delicate balance of being authentic, posting content tailored to that site and trying to keep my privacy. So not only will this website be the space between my other platforms in terms of hyperlinks but also in terms of vibe, that way the things I post here are truly authentic, about whatever I want and even a bit more personal (that last one is for you employers/stalkers).

TL;DR

I'll be using this site to archive projects for my various creative habits, to post blogs that

don't quite fit elsewhere, and as a hub to my various other platforms with its own vibe.

Hope you have a nice day and a friendly reminder to drink some water if you haven't already.
